SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Springfield Symphony Orchestra invites children of all ages and their families to join us for the 14th Annual Spooky Symphony, a free Halloween concert, on Friday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. The orchestra, all dressed in their Halloween costumes, will be led by SSO Music Director and Conductor, Kyle Wiley Pickett, and will feature performances of themes from Star Wars and Indiana Jones along with In the Hall of the Mountain King, Ride of the Valkyries, and more.
“One of my favorite Springfield Symphony concerts each year is our Spooky Symphony concert,” says Maestro Pickett, “I’ve heard from so many people in Springfield over the years that this was the first time they ever saw a live orchestra. We play fun, familiar music, and it’s great to see the recognition in kids’ eyes as we play music they know.” Concert attendees are welcome to wear Halloween costumes, participate in the costume parade, and join in the social media costume contest for children during the event. Maestro Pickett added, “I love seeing all the kids in their creative costumes as they march past the orchestra!” Attendees can look forward to the distribution of free ice cream sandwiches generously provided by Hiland Dairy and trick or treat opportunities from Springfield Symphony sponsors and local businesses.
The concert is free, and tickets are required for entry with assigned seating.
