Holiday Concert

November 16, 2022

The Springfield Symphony is playing holiday tunes that capture the spirit of love and romance of Christmastime at In Love at Christmas on Saturday, December 10th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 11th at 2:30p.m. The program for the second pops concert of the “Swipe Right” season will feature area high school choirs performing holiday favorites alongside the orchestra, playing classics such as, Silent Night, Sleigh Ride, Ose Shalom, and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, among others!

Whether it’s being with your loved ones at home for the holidays or taking your special someone for a walk in a winter wonderland, the Christmas season is brimming with love. “The SSO Holiday Concert is one of my favorite ways to get into the Christmas mood.  As I always say, this is the only time of year when all of us - from age 5 to 95 - listen to the same music,” said Music Director and Conductor, Kyle Wiley Pickett. “I especially love our carol sing-a-long, when the audience gets to join with the orchestra and choirs!  It always leaves me feeling so happy!”

Saturday evening will feature choirs from Springfield Public High Schools Central, Glendale, Parkview, Kickapoo, and Hillcrest while Sunday’s matinee performance will feature the high school choirs from Willard, Nixa, Catholic, and Greenwood schools. “It's been a couple of years since we've been able to feature high school choirs on our annual holiday concert, and we are so excited to welcome these talented singers back,” said Pickett. “So much Christmas music is written for orchestra and chorus, and I always love the chance to work with our local high school music departments,” he continued.
