Join the Springfield Symphony on Saturday May 10th for a swinging trip down Route 66 celebrating this most cherished piece of American History. Let us take you on an unforgettable musical journey through time and across this great land with plenty of stops along the way. We’ll meet cast members from Little Theatre’s “The Taffetas” and the Sho-Me Statesmen – we even hear that Elvis may be stopping by!
Highlights will include the rollicking St. Louis Blues, selections from the musical Chicago and of course the Bobby Troup classic “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” - as well as the world premiere of a video showcasing the “mother-road” through Springfield over the years - projected above the orchestra as it plays. There will be singing and dancing plus the “swingingest” big band around - even the Maestro, Ron Spigelman, will be getting in on the act with his trumpet!
This concert promises to be fun for the whole family and one that you will not want to miss - so climb on board and “get your kicks” as we take you on a rip-roaring trip down Memory Road! |
