Springfield Symphony announces auditions for the 2022-2023 season

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for the 2022-2023 season intending to fill the following positions:

  • Principal Oboe
  • Principal Timpani
  • Assistant Principal Bass
  • Section Cello (2 positions)
  •  Section Bass (2 positions)

Woodwind, brass, and percussion auditions will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, and string auditions will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022. To receive an audition packet, interested musicians must email a one-page resume to operationsmanager@springfieldmosymphony.org.  The audition committee of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra reserves the right to dismiss any candidate’s resume that does not meet qualified standards.

An audition time will be scheduled following an approved resume and a $25 refundable audition slot deposit to the Springfield Symphony Orchestra office. Both resume and deposit must be submitted by Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Audition for substitute positions will be available on the dates listed above in which candidates will secure an audition time for the date that corresponds to their instrument. Substitute candidates may choose to send an uncut recorded video of audition materials at any time during the year for on-call consideration.

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is a per service orchestra with approximately 40 services available each season which runs September through May.
