Springfield Symphony celebrates with “An American Christmas” this holiday season

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Springfield Symphony is joining musical forces with over 150 choir members from surrounding Springfield Public Schools at its annual holiday pops concert, An American Christmas, on Saturday, December 7 at 7:30 pm at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. The orchestra will be led by music director/conductor Kyle Wiley Pickett, and will feature music from holiday classics White Christmas, The Christmas Song, Festive Sounds of Hanukah, and more!

“The holiday concert is always one of my favorites to perform,” said Pickett. “What I love about concerts like this is that everyone—young, old, and everyone in between—knows and loves these songs. The holidays bring us together by uniting us with a common playlist that everyone appreciates. The Symphony will have a great time playing these seasonal classics for the big crowd we always get at the Christmas concerts.”

“To continue our theme for the 2019-20 symphony season, we are highlighting songs that are part of the quintessential nostalgic American holiday playlist,” stated Pickett. “This will be a terrific concert to put you in the holiday spirit with American Christmas favorites like Sleigh Ride, The Christmas Song, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. In addition, we are always thrilled to invite local high school students to join us for the holiday concert. They bring such a great high energy to the performances, and you can really feel how excited the students and families are to be up onstage at Hammons with the symphony. It’s a great tradition and I’m looking forward to working with these talented young singers again.” Pickett is available for any interviews or questions.  Please feel free to email him at [email protected] or call at (417) 837-9422.

Pre-concert music will begin at 6:45 p.m.  Tickets are currently on sale at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall box office, and can be purchased by calling (417) 836-7678 or online at www.hammonshall.com.  Ticket prices range from $10 - $40 and discounts are available for students and seniors. The An American Christmas concert is being sponsored by Reliable Superstore (Presenting Sponsor), Central Bank of the Ozarks, CoxHealth, Don Wessel Honda, Digital Lunchbox, KY3, and 105.9FM KGBX.
