Springfield Symphony to host food drive benefiting Ozarks Food Harvest

 

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – As members of the League of American Orchestras and as a part of their Orchestras Feeding America program, the Springfield Symphony will host a food drive, at its Is There Life After Death? classical concert on Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts (525 S. John Q. Hammons Pkwy). All donations will benefit Ozarks Food Harvest a Feeding America partner.

                Over the past ten years Orchestras Feeding America has seen over 370 orchestras from across the country collect and donate nearly 520,000 pounds of food. Donation bins will be set up at various locations at Hammons Hall the evening of the concert. A donation that evening will help serve 261,000 individuals across 28 counties.  Most needed items are:  canned meats, peanut butter, beans, soups, stews, rice & pasta, and canned vegetables and fruits.       

The concert, Is There Life After Death?, will feature the combined choirs of College of the Ozarks, Drury, Evangel, and Missouri State Universities with guest artists Jennifer Forni, Nicole Birkland, Limmie Pulliam, and Todd Payne. Pickett will deliver a pre-concert talk from the stage at 6:30 p.m. and pre-concert music will begin at 6:45 p.m.  Tickets are currently on sale at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall box office, and can be purchased by calling (417) 836-7678 or online at www.missouristatetix.com.  Ticket prices range from $10 - $40 and discounts are available for students and seniors.
