Rossini’s Overture to the Barber of Seville is light, frothy, and fun, and one of the most popular and easily-recognized works for orchestra. We are also thrilled to welcome to our stage for the first time 2013 Van Cliburn Crystal Award Winner Sean Chen, who will play one of the greatest piano concertos of all time – Tchaikovsky’s First. And we present Sibelius’s First Symphony, a musical portrait of the stark, cold, and pine-filled Finnish landscape, full of brooding, yearning, and power.
