JOHN H. SIMMONS, VICE PRESIDENT

Mr. John H. Simmons was born and raised in Springfield. He attended Greenwood, CHS and Drury, followed by a MA program at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He served with the Peace Corps in Tunisia and with the U.S. Foreign Service in Washington D.C. and Viet Nam. He met Kay Stuhr of Winona, Minnesota, in Viet Nam. They were married in 1969. They have four grown children and a growing number of grandchildren.

John headed the Department of Art and Architecture at Drury during the formative years
of the Hammons School of Architecture. Leaving Drury in 1983, he returned to the
Foreign Service and served for three years as Peace Corps Country Director in Tunisia. Since returning to Springfield in 1986 he has been involved with nursing home ownership and management.

John previously served as a member of the Springfield Art Museum board for six years, during the last two of which he was its chairman. He has also served on numerous civic and church related boards including two terms with the AIDS Project of the Ozarks, which he also chaired for two years. Currently, John serves as Senior Warden of All Saints Anglican Church.
