JAMES GESSLER, BOARD MEMBER

James A. Gessler, M.D., M.P.H. received a Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University in 1970, his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kansas in 1974, a Master of Business Administration from Southwest Missouri State University in 2005. He completed residencies in Aerospace Medicine at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute, Pensacola, Florida, and in ophthalmology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been performing cataract surgery fro over twenty years and refractive laser surgery, including Advanced Surface Ablation and LASIK since 1995. He served as the Medical Director of The Eye Laser Center in Springfield and as the chairman of the Ophthalmology Section of St. John’s Clinic, a position he currently holds. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. He and his wife, Pam, have been happily married for 32 years.
